Tips, Tips, Tips

If you're trying to lose weight, in can be hard to suppress the urge to check the scale often. It's better to exercise some restraint, though, because it's very normal for body weight to fluctuate a few pounds from day to day - or even within a day. For example, if you have a large meal, you could weigh as much as 5 pounds more immediately afterwards. If you eat food that's high in sodium, you're likelier to gain a few pounds of water weight in the short term. The solution: Weigh yourself no more than once a week. You'll get a more accurate picture of how well you're losing weight over time.

An Open Letter to All Airline Customers

Our country is facing a possible sharp economic downturn because of skyrocketing oil and fuel prices, but by pulling together, we can all do something to help now.
For airlines, ultra-expensive fuel means thousands of lost jobs and severe reductions in air service to both large and small communities. To the broader economy, oil prices mean slower activity and widespread economic pain. This pain can be alleviated, and that is why we are taking the extraordinary step of writing this joint letter to our customers.Since high oil prices are partly a response to normal market forces, the nation needs to focus on increased energy supplies and conservation. However, there is another side to this story because normal market forces are being dangerously amplified by poorly regulated market speculation.Twenty years ago, 21 percent of oil contracts were purchased by speculators who trade oil on paper with no intention of ever taking delivery. Today, oil speculators purchase 66 percent of all oil futures contracts, and that reflects just the transactions that are known.Speculators buy up large amounts of oil and then sell it to each other again and again. A barrel of oil may trade 20-plus times before it is delivered and used; the price goes up with each trade and consumers pick up the final tab. Some market experts estimate that current prices reflect as much as $30 to $60 per barrel in unnecessary speculative costs.Over seventy years ago, Congress established regulations to control excessive, largely unchecked market speculation and manipulation. However, over the past two decades, these regulatory limits have been weakened or removed. We believe that restoring and enforcing these limits, along with several other modest measures, will provide more disclosure, transparency and sound market oversight. Together, these reforms will help cool the over-heated oil market and permit the economy to prosper. The nation needs to pull together to reform the oil markets and solve this growing problem. We need your help. Get more information and contact Congress by visiting www.StopOilSpeculationNow.com/sos.

Diva Homework - Peridot

The vivid green of the peridot, with just a slight hint of gold, is the ideal gemstone colour to go with that light summer wardrobe. No wonder – since the peridot is the gemstone of the summer month of August. The peridot is a very old gemstone, and one which has become very popular again today. It is so ancient that it can be found in Egyptian jewellery from the early 2nd millennium B.C.. The stones used at that time came from a deposit on a small volcanic island in the Red Sea, some 45 miles off the Egyptian coast at Aswan, which was not rediscovered until about 1900 and has, meanwhile, been exhausted for quite some time. Having said that, the peridot is also a thoroughly modern gemstone, for it was not until a few years ago that peridot deposits were located in the Kashmir region; and the stones from those deposits, being of an incomparably beautiful colour and transparency, have succeeded in giving a good polish to the image of this beautiful gemstone, which had paled somewhat over the millennia. The ancient Romans too were fond of this gemstone and esteemed its radiant green shine, which does not change even in artificial light. For that reason they nicknamed it the 'emerald of the evening'. Peridot is also found in Europe in medieval churches, where it adorns many a treasure, for example one of the shrines in Cologne Cathedral. During the baroque period, the rich green gemstone once again enjoyed a brief heyday, and then it somehow faded into oblivion.

**from gemstone.org**

Peridot has been long considered to be an aid to friendship and supposedly frees the mind of envious thoughts. It is also supposed to protect the wearer from the evil eye. Other legends credit peridot with bringing happiness and good cheer, attracting lovers, and strengthening the eyes. Pliny wrote that peridot is dull during daylight hours but will glow like a hot coal by night.

Several sources say that in ancient times, cups or other vessels made of peridot were used in healing because medicinal liquids drunk from them were more effective. In 1502 in Venice, Kunz cited the manuscript which relates the ancient practice of using a piece of peridot upon which was carved an ass to assist a person with a skill or prophesy. On the other hand, the engraving of a totem or a vulture allowed the stone to have control over various demonic spirits as well as the winds.

I fell in love with the Peridot because I read egyptians used the stone to heal the heart...and the green is so serene..you can't help but love it...I wasn't born in August but my birthday month is next too it!!!

Time for the good stuff!!!

My favorite sites - (this is where I spent most of my internet time) and I listen to music while I work...

I'm truly truly happy with my life but I have one little question? How can a person tell you that there business is none of your business, which is true...right...then why the hell post your stupid ass business on Myspace...right..for the whole wide world too see...then get mad at me..and all I did was ask your man if he saw the blog you wrote about him...when he always....I mean always tell me and my man about what you did to him, and how you sleep with your "best friend man"...pay your son no attention and how you always compare yourself me...when there is no comparsion...because i'm real..I shoud be the mad one but i'm confused! I normally don't sweat the small stuff but I'm always analyzing issues to make sure I did the right thing!

This is dedicated to those Back Stabbers..you know who you are!

Sistas Let's Stop Hatin' On Each Other...Ok...so I walk in and you see me. You see that my hair is done, myoutfit is fierce and I carry myself like a lady. I smile at you but youroll your eyes at me, then, turn your head and whisper something to yourgirl. Why you hatin'?Ok... so maybe I'm a new employee and this is my first day at work. Ialmost thought I would be the only sista in the joint until someoneintroduced us to each other. I smile and extend my hand, happy to know Iwon't be here alone. You smile and shake my hand but there's insincerityin your eyes and your hand is limp. You seem guarded. What's wrong Ma'?

Ok ...so maybe my man and I have been having problems. And since you'vebeen my best friend for years I confide in you that I think he'scheating on me. You offer your support. Until I find out that he's beencheating on me....with you! Why would you hurt me like that?I found your knife, girl.....it's in my back!As women we battle daily. We battle keeping our families together, keeping our men happy and maintaining our presence in the workforce. With all that battling going on why in the world should we have to battle each other?

Now I'm not saying every sistah has a knife...but some of you do....andyou know who you are. Why is it that a woman can't get her glamour onwithout you having a problem? Why can't I get a blonde weave without youhaving something to say?If I'm working myself to death in the office trying to climb thecorporate ladder...why am I suddenly a sellout? If I leave the room for a minute why can't I trust you around my man?

Smiling in my face, but gossiping all my personal business behind myback?

You now have permission to consider yourself triflin'!

Inferiority Complex.

It makes us feel that in order to be someone special we have to put everyone else beneath us. Are we so insecure inourselves that we can't feel good until we pull someone else down? There's something wrong here. We've come to envy those who'veaccomplished in their lives what we've only dreamed of having forourselves. And when we fear we will never be able to get what we want- we steal it.There is a serious self-worth issue going on here. We're in a day andage where we should be encouraging each other and holding each other up.Sisterhood should not end when Oprah goes off. Truth be told, there willalways be someone prettier, sexier, stronger, and smarter. I'm sorry Boo- that's just the way it is. But that's ok.....just do you!I don't care how good Beyonce' looks - if she walks into the same roomI'm in, it doesn't make me any less of the diva I already am! I loveadmiring hairstyles...but there's no need to be jealous. Honey, nowadaysthere's enough hair for err-body.I have goals in life. There are things I strive to attain. Yet I seekout successful sisters because they keep me motivated.Life is so much more than who looks the best, who dresses the best andwho makes more money. So when you see your sister going for hers let itinspire you .... To do you.

Sweet tooth pic of the week....

Mr. Halle Berry aka Gabriel Aubry
OMG!!! This is a sexy ass creature from planet Earth...I have a weakness for a sexy ass white man!
Gabriel Aubry (born August 30, 1976 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada), is a French Canadian model. His father is Gérard. Aubry first came into the industry in the late 90s, at a time when fashion was first becoming obsessed with androgyny and/or overt boyishness in menswear. Aubry was considered the prototype of this. He was among the first wave of such boys to come into the industry. However, most of those boys phased out after a season or two, or a very few years at most. Aubry quickly became a popular model, and ironically as his looks matured he continued to grow more successful. He is now characterized by longer hair and designer stubble.
He has modeled for Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, Calvin Klein and Next; and achieved supermodel status after modeling for Hugo Boss.[1] He has a pay rate of $30,000 a day. He is signed to Beatrice Model agency in Milan, Italy, and Wilhelmina Models in New York City. He has recently appeared in a Macy's commercial in early 2008
His girlfriend, Halle Berry, gave birth to their daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, at 10:17 am on March 16, 2008 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.[2]
